Work With Me

If you feel like you can’t sort through all this on your own or like none of the professionals you’ve seen have been able to help, don’t give up. It’s simply time to try something different.

With typical therapy sessions, we’re encouraged to ruminate on our problems, to focus on their related thoughts and emotions. We simply sit and discuss the issue at hand, hoping to arrive at some new understanding.

That’s how it’s been done since Freud invented psychoanalysis back in the dinosaur age. But, while talking through things can definitely be helpful, it isn’t the only way.

These are just a few of the things we can do during your sessions:

  • Somatic exercises
  • Grounding techniques
  • “Parts” work (Internal Family Systems)
  • Attachment-based work
  • Psychoeducation
  • Meditation

We might also do “mindless” tasks while talking, such as going for a walk, coloring or doodling, or even folding laundry. You may think this is weird or that it’s rude to “not pay attention” during your session. But this is SCIENCE!

The daydreaming mind may make an association between bits of information that the person had never considered in that particular way. This accounts for creativity, insights of wisdom and oftentimes the solutions to problems that the person had not considered.

Our first session will be more “normal” as you share your story with me and we get to know each other. Then we’ll work through things using whatever techniques work best for you. It’s a more relaxed, organic, and flexible approach than formal therapy, which makes it easier to establish a helpful, healing relationship.

As Nirvana said, come as you are. Feel free to do your session in your pajamas if you need to (you don’t even have to get out of bed). Or meet me from your office, car, personal blimp, or wherever is convenient for you.

Simply let me know your time zone and the days/times that work best for you. Sessions last 55 minutes, are done online through Zoom, and are regularly $120 USD. If costs are a concern, I do offer a sliding scale.
